I-I don't want an anxiety attack right now! I clutch my chest, my already depleted lungs getting tighter by the second. Suddenly, more and more people are asking questions and waving their phones in my face. “Oh, I see!” She smiles triumphantly, walking back into the crowd.

“Kinda, you see, her full name is Lindworm, I just call her Linda for short.” I explain, hearing the chatter around me grow louder. She has long blond hair, tied up in a messy bun, with her phone held out in front of her. “Did you really name your Drakloak “Linda”?” A woman asks, I assume she’s the one who spoke before. I guess the others don't usually battle runaway dragons? Or maybe these guys are just curious? “Excuse me?” A new voice catches my attention and I look up to see a bunch of people have gathered around me, looks of curiosity on their faces.
All things considered? That could've been way worse! Linda? You’re doing great!” I give her a gentle pat on the head, before turning to watch as she drags the misbehaving dragon back home. “Lead Linda back to the conservation area. “Now, Geb.” I unclip my Flygon’s Pokeball, watching as he forms beside me. Linda’s eyes begin to glow an iridescent magenta as an aura of a similar hue surrounds the Kommo-o, steadily lifting it off the ground. It slams into the other Pokémon, forcing it backwards. Linda darts back, taking a little damage from the super effective hit before firing back with her own brilliant blast of energy. “Ok, Linda! It's just like we practiced!” I exchange a nod with her.
The Kommo-o turns, snarling loudly as it lets off another Clanging Scales attack. Linda’s a force to be reckoned with, fully evolved or not! I hatched her from an egg just a month or so ago, and I definitely don't regret it. “Go! Linda!” I shout, the Drakloak letting out a ferocious battle cry as she forms over the pavement. I unclip a Pokeball from my belt, throwing it into the air. Well, it's been fun, but I think it's ‘bout time I get this guy back where he belongs.
All in all, they seem pretty calm, some of them are even on their phones! Wow, I guess this really is the norm here. The Kommo-o is practically shrieking now, letting off dangerous blasts of Clanging Scales and Flamethrower while civilians evacuate and hide behind various signs and carts. I remember coming to the battle café here the first time I was in Hammerlock. It's in a larger clearing now, lined by various stores and restaurants. My feet begin to ache as I catch up to the Pokémon. “Ummmm, something like that! Gotta go!” I reply as another crash echoes through the street. “I feel like I’ve seen you somewhere before, are you a gym challenger, miss?” I really should be chasing down that Kommo-o. “Yup!” I exclaim, beginning to backpedal. “You must be new, yeah? Started working at the gym recently?” Getting a clear look at the Gym Uniform I’m currently wearing. “Hmmm.” The man mumbles, resting a hand against his chin as he studies me. “Ok, that's good.” Huh, I guess that’s why everyone's acting so chill. “Yep, this kinda thing is pretty common ‘round here, the folks from the gym usually have it sorted in a jiffy,” He just shakes his head, climbing to his feet. He’s an older man, with wrinkles peppering his face and a clearly antique cane lying on the ground beside him. “Are you ok?” I ask, rushing over to check on the apple seller. The Pokémon hisses and bolts again, leaving those poor apples alone. I don't have to pay for that do I? Maybe I should, I mean, it was my turn to watch the rescued dragons, even if it was only my first day. The Kommo-o roars, people scattering to get out of the way of the enraged dragon as it smashes its humongous armored fists into a nearby fruit stand. I strain, pushing myself to go as fast as I can. I clench my teeth, panting hard as I rush through Hammerlock’s winding maze of main roads and alleyways, my lungs protesting every breath.
